Next steps
- Visit the NSSP web site for useful information on the program and its guidelines:
www.environment.gov.au/settlements/renewable/nationalsolarschools. - Please note that some schools should not submit claims directly to NSSP but to the education authority in their state/territory. For more information please go to www.environment.gov.au/settlements/renewable/nationalsolarschools/claim/interim.html
- Please keep in mind that the procedure of submitting claims for NSSP is different from state to state: Some states or school systems have a centralised application procedure. Check your local requirements on how best to have your PV system installed.
- Read the registration instructions, complete the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts General Registration. Proceed as advised by your state/territory and submit.
- The NSSP will confirm your eligibility and accept your registration. You will also receive information as to the amount of money you are eligible to claim.
- Find a Solar Power Professional. Click here to check the procedure for your state and territory and to find experienced SMA Partners.
- Invite at least three offers from selected system designers for a PV system.
- For states without a centralized tendering process: Thoroughly plan your NSSP solar system and select the most appropriate quotes for your system without any commitment to any quote until you have the NSSP Funding Agreement in place.
- Complete the NSSP Claim Form and email either to nationalsolarschools@environment.gov.au or to your state or territory education department.
- When your claim has been accepted, you will receive information about your Funding Agreement. Log in, print and sign two copies of the Funding Agreement and return both to the NSSP Team. The team will countersign both copies and send one to you. They will also deposit your grant on your bank account.

The NSSP funding is not a rebate. To be entitled for grants, you must apply for NSSP first, then sign the funding agreement with the Australian Government National Solar Schools Program before you start a solar system installation on your school grounds.
